The Primary Years Programme
The Primary Years Programme (PYP) is for pupils aged 4 to 11 at our school. The programme focuses on the development of the whole child in the classroom and in the world outside. The PYP programme of inquiry at each grade level is centered around six transdisciplinary themes.
These themes, as defined by the IBPYP, have global significance to all students in all cultures; offer students the opportunity to explore the commonalities of human experience; and are supported by knowledge, concepts and skills from traditional subject areas.
In the course of one school year, students inquire into and learn about these globally significant issues in the context of six (four for Pre-School) units of inquiry. Through each unit, there is emphasis on a balance of knowledge, concepts, skills, attitudes and action.
The Middle Years Programme
The Middle Years Programme (MYP) at our school is a programme for students aged 11-16. This is the age of puberty and mid-adolescence. The MYP programme is designed to meet the needs of the middle school student in an ever changing world. Students are taught to develop knowledge, attitudes and skills so that they can become independent learners and recognize the connections between school and the world around them.
Through a holistic approach to education, students become adept in communicating and develop intercultural awareness across a broad range of disciplines. Students are challenged to think critically and take increasing responsibility for their learning, thereby gaining greater skills for acquiring knowledge and understanding. It is our aim that through an approach of academic rigor and social development, students will become life long learners and positive contributors to society.
The Diploma Programme
The Diploma Programme(DP) is designed as an academically challenging and balanced programme of education with final examinations that progress students, normally aged 16 to 19, for success at university and life beyond. The programme is normally taught over two years and has gained recognition and respect from the world’s leading universities.
IB Diploma Programme students study six courses at higher level or standard level. Students must choose one subject from each of groups 1 to 5, thus ensuring breadth of experience in languages, social studies, the experimental sciences and mathematics. The sixth subject may be an arts subject chosen from group 6, or the student may choose another subject from groups 1 to 5.
In addition the Diploma Programme has three core requirements that are included to broaden the educational experience and challenge students to apply their knowledge and understanding.
