New School is eleven years old now. Our history began in 1998 when Dr. Marina Zhgenti founded a private Georgian school with 30 students in rented premises. With the school growing, it was decided it was time for the school to have for its own facility. In 2003 the school moved into its new, purpose built premises in Bagebi, a green residential suburb of Tbilisi.
In September 2007 New School International School of Georgia became a bilingual school when we opened the Elementary English Department. This made it possible for us to offer parents the option of educating their children in English or Georgian. In September 2008 the Middle School English Department was opened enabling New School International School of Georgia to provide education to English speaking students from age 3 to 16. Now we have grown into a body of almost 500 pupils representing 25 different nationalities, and a permanent staff of 80.
As of the beginning of the current school year, New School International School of Georgia has grown into a body of almost over 500 pupils representing 25 different nationalities, and a permanent staff of 80.
After researching various international curriculums, it was decided that the International Baccalaureate programmes best meet the philosophy and goals of the school. The IB Primary Years Programme was introduced in December 2008, the PYP of New School was authorized and we became an International Baccalaureate World School .
The IB Middle Years Programme began in 2006. We are currently an MYP candidate school awaiting our authorization visit, which we anticipate will be in the Fall of 2010.
In December 2009 we became the IB Diploma programme candidate school.
