The PYP programme of inquiry at each grade level is centered around six transdisciplinary themes. These themes, as defined by the IBPYP, have global significance to all students in all cultures; offer students the opportunity to explore the commonalities of human experience; and are supported by knowledge, concepts and skills from the traditional subject areas.
In the course of one school year, /P2-P6/Grades 1-5 inquire into and learn about these globally significant issues in the context of six units of inquiry, while Pre-School/4-5 year olds inquire and learn about four units of inquiry. Through each unit, there is emphasis on a balance of knowledge, concepts, skills, attitudes, and action.
Each grade level’s programme of inquiry is outlined in a link below. For this school year, because of the multi-age classes in the English Department, we have chosen the units to follow that offer the broadest significance for the children in these classes. The children are able to inquire into these issues at their respective developmental levels.
