The first day of Literacy Month will begin with a whole school assembly and children dressing up as their favourite Dr Susse to celebrate this famous author's birthday (the 3rd of March). During the month children can take part in the Read-A-Thon, writing competition, book swap, decorating classroom doors, special word games at break time and buddy reading. We will also have a special pyjama day where each class will have time to go and read in the winter garden and drop everything and read times twice a week all month (DEAR). In class, children will be learning to use expression during reading by taking part in readers theatre. The end of the month will finish with a closing ceremony where we celebrate all we have done all month, our achievements and the winners of the competitions.
